Home Improvements — Quality Trades You Can Actually Trust

Beyond chimneys and fireplaces, Phil brings the same standard of craftsmanship to a wide range of home improvement projects — tiling, rendering, patios, and more. One trusted tradesperson for your home.

There’s a particular kind of frustration that comes from having a home improvement done by someone who treats it as a box to check rather than a job to be proud of. Phil Markides has spent his career doing the opposite — working to the standard he’d expect on his own home, and not being satisfied until it looks and works the way it should.

Andromeda takes on a range of home improvement work for homeowners across Wiltshire, Bath and surrounding areas — renovation projects, internal alterations, structural work and improvements that either bring older properties up to standard or change the way a space works entirely. No shortcuts. No rushed finishes. Work that endures.

The Kind of Work We Take On

  • Internal alterations — removing walls, opening up spaces, reconfiguring rooms to suit how you actually live
  • Renovation of older properties — bringing period homes back to life with appropriate methods and materials
  • Structural repairs — addressing problems rather than hiding them
  • Extensions and additions — where the project needs a craftsman’s eye as well as a builder’s hands
  • Lime plastering and traditional finishes — the right approach for older homes
  • Outbuildings and ancillary structures — built properly rather than thrown together

Phil isn’t a general builder taking on anything that pays. He selects work where his skills are genuinely the right fit. His background in masonry, fireplace work and bespoke projects means he’s comfortable with complex, multi-discipline jobs where a less experienced tradesman would be out of their depth.

Do you do small jobs as well as large projects?

Yes — Phil takes on work across a range of scales. The minimum requirement isn’t a large project, it’s a job that suits his skills and that he can do well. If you’re unsure whether your project is something he’d take on, just get in touch and describe what you’re looking at.

Are you experienced with listed buildings?

Phil has worked on listed and historic buildings and understands the particular requirements that come with them — appropriate materials, sympathetic methods, and the need to work within the constraints of planning and listed building consent where applicable. He’ll flag any consent requirements at the assessment stage.

Can you recommend other tradesmen for work outside your scope?

Yes. If a project needs skills or trades beyond what Phil covers, he’ll tell you honestly and, where he can, point you in the direction of reliable people he knows. He’d rather you got the job done right by the right person than handed off to someone unsuitable.
